Alternative Provision

Brighten your child's future with our AP

Our Alternative Provision is government linked education which allows students aged 10-16 years to re-engage with education. Alternative provision at LTS is made up of a themed curriculum to enable students to build resilience and enthusiasm for a love of learning and the build confidence in the possibility of taking exams, as well as creating career skills and general life skills.

LTS has qualified teachers, experienced tutors, dyslexia assessors and a psychologist on site, all available to support our students.

We cover Maths, English, Science, IT, Careers, PSHE, and other interest-led foundation subjects.

Our Students' Stories

Miley's story

Miley is a 14 year olds student who was excluded from school due to poor behaviour and not turning up to lessons. Miley is still on role with her secondary school and will be taking her GCSEs at the school in a separate room to other students.

Miley's parents discussed with LTS that she may be doing functional skills as opposed to GCSEs, but her work with LTS means she is now working at the same level as her peers.

Miley says: "I know I had a bad attitude and I hated going to school. I felt like I couldn't do the work and no one was helping me - it was easier to not go. My tutor at LTS has got enough patience to help me understand before moving on to something else. "

Dean's story

Dean is a 12 year old student who joined LTS two years ago. Dean was struggling with dyslexia and his parents were struggling to get the support they needed. Dean is now home-schooled and continuing education with LTS for 10 hours a week. He passed his SATs with the support of LTS and is now successfully transitioning into mainstream secondary education.

Dean says "My tutor at LTS helped me to learn in ways that school didn't. Now I understand how to do maths properly and my spellings are better too. "

James' story

James is a 16 year old student who became a school refuser at the age of 9. After years of struggling, James' parents contacted LTS to see if a re-engagement was possible. James is a very able student, but bullying meant he no longer wanted to carry on with education. James successfully began his education at LTS on a part-time basis and is now working towards taking his GCSE exams; expecting a grade 6!

James says "I felt like I would never be able to take my GCSEs. Most of my time was spent in my room doing nothing. LTS helped me to see I could achieve and that I have a future."
