Initial Assessments
Before embarking upon their tutoring journey, we offer each student an assessment. Don't worry, this is not a test! It is simply to determine the student's current level of attainment, and so that we know which areas we could provide additional support in.
We have two options for assessment, the details of which can be found below.
20 minute assessment
Within this time the student, parent and a member of staff at LTS will have a chat about where the student feels they may benefit from further support and how we can help moving forward. It also gives you the opportunity to have a look around our learning environment. This usually leads on to a more in depth assessment with a teacher.
1 hour assessment
This is our most popular option! This assessment allows you one hour with a teacher who will, initially, discuss any issues which are occurring. The teacher will then assess the student and give full feedback and a report which states levels and next steps. During the assessment we don't do sit down school work, we do memory games, play cards, have a go on the iPad, talk and look at resources etc. Any work that is carried out is done in very small chunks to get an idea of the students likes and dislikes - there is no pressure, in fact we use this time to see how we can help, so mistakes are welcome and as always at LTS we will find things to praise along the way!
