What is dyslexia?
People with dyslexia may struggle to process information, which in turn can impact negatively on reading and writing skills. Dyslexia is a learning 'difficulty' and the signs of dyslexia often vary with age. Therefore, primary and secondary students signs may differ, some features include:

Difficulty with attention span

Muddles words

Forgets names of people or things

Difficulty sequencing

Slow spoken or written language

Confusion over letters which look similar, e.g. b and d

Spells a word several different ways

Slow reading progression

Easily distracted

Hesitant when reading aloud

Confuses left and right

Displays signs of excessive tiredness

These are just some signs of dyslexia, there are many more and not every person with dyslexia will display the same signs.

Dyscalculia
Dyscalculia is the difficulty of understanding numbers, this difficulty is persistent and can lead to difficulties in maths.

Dyscalculia often occurs alongside other learning difficulties, but can sometimes occur on its own.
